Gene
Best build

Magic Puffs is one of the best Star Power in the game. It makes Gene a great Support, and a very versatile Brawler. The healing ability is really strong especially in passive modes. The Gadget Lamp Blowout is the safer Gadget to pick when playing Gene, because he lacks damage and can be pretty vulnerable against agressive brawlers without it. It is absolutely needed when facing short range and mid range Brawlers, and when playing Gem’s Grab, because Gene is often the gem carrier. In term of gears, the Talk to the hand one is very strong in every mode because Gene’s strength is his Super and the range boost is insane. As the second one, the Health Gear is the best because you can pressure enemies, and heal more easily.

All enemies close to Gene are instantly pushed back. If at least one enemy Brawler is within range, Gene will also restore 10% of his max health.

Other build

Gene’s Star Power Spirit Slap can be interesting against high HP brawlers, but remains not as strong as the other one, since a successful grab often means a kill with Gene, even without the Star Power. However, you can surprise enemies with it, because they expect Gene to deal low damage and won’t expect a 2000 hit. The Gadget Vengeful Spirits is great in passive modes and especially in Knockout, if you’re not facing agressive Brawlers. This Gadget is really surprising, and can get you a kill pretty easily because of its huge range. When playing in bushy maps, the Vision gear is absolutely needed instead of the Health one, because Gene’s main attack hits a very large area and has a lot of projectiles that can hit enemies.

Gene
Brawl Stars Guide

attack
Gene shoots a smoke ball at normal range that deals 2000 damage. If the ball doesn’t hit anything, it will split in a cone of 6 smaller smoke balls, each one dealing 333 damage. The range of the small smoke balls is one of the best in the game, and has a large area. That makes Gene a really annoying Brawler to face, because he will prevent you easily from healing. Gene doesn’t deal much damage, but can harass enemies constantly because of his range.
Super
Gene throws a magical hand from his lamp, that can go through walls. If it hits an enemy (Brawler or pet), it will grab them and pull them to Gene, destroying the walls on the way back. You can attract an enemy with it and kill them easily with your allies in your side before they can even move ! Don’t grab enemies when you’re alone, except if they’re very low, and try to move back to prevent enemies from helping their mate. This technique is game changer in Knockout, especially with the gear Talk to the hand.

Gene Gadget 01

Lamp Blowout

When activated, all enemies located in a small circle around Gene are instantly pushed back, and Gene recovers 10% HP (720 HP) if an enemy was indeed pushed back. You can use this Gadget every time you’re facing agressive Brawlers. If they rush you, you activate this Gadget and they won’t have the range to touch you anymore, and you will. You can also cancel abilities with that, like Carl’s Super, or Franck’s attacks.
Gene Gadget 02

Vengeful Spirits

Gene throws one spirit for every enemy in the range of this Gadget (which is exceptionally long), that will follow them and hit them automatically, except if it hits a wall. Depending on the distance traveled, the spirit deals between 460 (at minimum range) and 1600 damage (at maximum range). This Gadget is so broken to finish low enemies, because of the range of the Gadget. They can’t really escape it, and don’t expect it in many situations. Just like the other Gadget, you can foresee its range by clicking on it without releasing the pressure on the button, to see which enemies are in the range.
Gene Star Power 01

Magic Puffs

All allies in a small circle around Gene get 576 HP every second. This Star Power is incredibly good in 3v3 modes, you can just continue shooting and stay close to Gene to heal up. It’s really effective against all types of poison effects. When using it, you must really pay attention at your allies, and try to get close as much as possible so they can keep their lane.
Gene Star Power 02

Spirit Slap

Gene’s magical hand deals 2000 damage to the enemy hit by the hand. This Star Power is really efficient against high HP brawlers (that can’t get killed easily even with the grab) or in 1v1 situations, because Gene himself doesn’t have good damage.

Gene
Brawl Stars Pro tips

Score a goal with the Gadget Lamp Blowout

If there are enemies between you and the enemy goal, you can shoot the ball forward to score and activate your Gadget instantly. It will push enemies back, and they won’t be able to stop the goal.

Score a goal with your Super

When you have the ball, and you’re close from the enemy goal, you can shoot the ball and use auto-aim with your Super. Your hand will grab the enemy, and they won’t be able to defend. You have to time it right, don’t take time to aim your Super. This technique also works when there’s a wall between you and the enemy.

Use Super on a multiple projectiles Brawler at close range

In a 1v1 situation against a Brawler that throws multiple projectiles per attack (Colt, Pearl, Pam, etc.), at close range, you can actually wait for the enemy to start shooting, and use Super on them instantly. They will be stopped in the middle of their attack, so you won’t get much damage but they still lost their ammo, so you get higher chances to win that duel ! You should use that when the enemy has their Super or/and Hypercharge, it will stop it.

USE YOUR super TO RESET ENEMIES SUPERS

Gene’s Super can reset a lot of Brawler’s Super (Frank, Maisie, …). Use it in order to cancel an ennemy’s Super and it will make the difference in the battleground. Your can also use it to cancel the damage of Fang’s Super, leaving him very vulnerable in a 3v3 situation.
