The best build for Shade is the Hardened Hoodie Star Power and the Longarms Gadget. Hardened Hoodie enables him to be more tanky and play much more aggressive with your Super, winning most of 1v1 interactions. Longarms is absolutely needed, since it can be used to finish enemies easily or get your Super faster. In terms of gears, the Gadget Cooldown one is by far the best one, because Shade’s Gadget is just really strong and useful in every match. You can use the Shield gear as the second one to have more HP, Shade’s lack of HP being one of his main weaknesses.
Longarms
The next main attack has 50% longer range.

Other build
The Spooky Speedster Star Power isn’t so bad, but the movement speed boost is not very consistent and doesn’t last long enough to get much value from it. It might be interesting sometimes, but the other Star Power remains way better. The Jumpscare Gadget is almost completely useless, because you can slow down enemies only if they’re really close and already in your range. Do not use it.
Jumpscare
Shade spooks nearby enemies, slowing them for 4 seconds.
Spooky Speedster
Hitting opponents with the center of Shade’s main attack gives a short movement speed boost.

Shade Brawl Stars Guide
attack
Shade hugs enemies with his two arms, dealing 1600 damage in a semi-circular area, and the attack goes through walls. The damage are twice higher in the center of the hug, so it can deal 3200 damage. Because Shade has a very fast reload speed, you can deal huge damage in a few seconds with a good aim.
Super
Shade goes in his Incorporeal Form for 6 seconds, which gives him a 30% speed boost and the ability to walk through obstacles. If he uses another Super before the previous one is over, the 6 seconds reset and another 30% speed boost is added for Shade.
Traits
Shade has 2 Traits. He charges his Super when being close from enemies and he’s able to move over water. The circular area around Shade is the charging Super area, and enemies don’t see it. One enemy will charge Shade’s Super in 15 seconds if staying in this area.
Longarms
Shade’s next main attack has 50% more range. This Gadget is extremely helpful for Shade, since his attack has a short range. It enables Shade to charge his Super more easily if enemies are trying so stay out of his range, or simply finish an enemy trying to escape.
Jumpscare
Shade slows down every enemy in a small circular area around him for 4 seconds. The slowing effect is quite good, but the range of this Gadget is terrible and makes it almost useless. You can possibly use it when an enemy is trying to escape is still near to you, or when you’re trying to escape.
Spooky Speedster
Whenever Shade hits an enemy in the center of his main attack, he gets a 15% movement speed boost per enemy hit. This boost lasts 1 second only, but can be useful for Shade to close the gap with another enemy.
Hardened Hoodie
Shade gets a 30% shield when being in his Incorporeal Form. This is really strong because he can rush enemies easily and charge his next Super. If you use another Super before the previous one is over, you won’t get an extra 30% shield.
Shade Brawl Stars Pro tips
Cycle Supers for the speed movement boost
Shade has a crazy mechanic : he stacks speed boost form his Super. It means that you have to try to get another Super before the previous one is over, to increase even more your speed movement and being able to rush enemies even more easily ! With 3 speed boosts, you’ll become impossible to hit for enemies and impossible to dodge.
Go outside the map with your Super
This pro tip is useful mostly in Brawlball. You can even go outside the map (next to the goals) when your Super is activated. From there, you can hit enemies and you won’t be hit by them, making you completely invincible for the duration of your Super !
Use walls against Assassins
Shade hard counters other Assassins, because he can use the walls and go from one side to another easily with his Super. You can hit Assassins behind walls, and every time they rush you, you just use your Super and go in the wall, or behind. Assassins can’t hit you and will feed your Super.
